Pomeroy Institute For Functional Nutrition helps health practitioners interpret functional lab tests and create customized protocols for their clients that correct areas of dysfunction identified through lab testing.
We can help you with:
A detailed marker-by-marker interpretation of a lab report
Connecting the dots (how the test results may correlate with the client's current symptoms and other lab tests they have run)
What subtle patterns or clues may be showing up on the report
Insight on what dietary or lifestyle changes, supplement protocols, or natural therapies might be helpful for your client based on the lab findings
Suggestions on what lab tests might be best to order for your client to investigate possible underlying causes of their symptoms
Lisa specializes in interpreting the GI-MAP Test (Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory) and the DUTCH Test (Precision Analytical); however, she may be able to help with the interpretation of additional tests.
The main tests we interpret:
GI-MAP (Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory )
DUTCH Test (Precision Analytical)
Other tests we may be able to help you with:
OAT Tests [Organic Acid Tests] (Genova, Mosaic)
Other stool tests (GI Effects from Genova, CSA from Parasitology Center Inc, etc)
SIBO breath tests (hydrogen/methane tests from Genova, Aerodiagnostics, etc)
Salivary Adrenal Panels (from any lab, including Genova)
Thyroid Panels (from any lab, including LabCorp & Quest)
Wheat Zoomer Test (Vibrant America)
Cyrex Labs Gluten-Related Panels (Array #3 & #4)
Before scheduling a mentoring session to review one of these "other" tests, we recommend contacting our office first by e-mail to confirm that we are currently offering mentoring sessions on those tests. You may also contact us to ask if we interpret a test you have that is not on this list. (You can find our e-mail on the Contact page)
Lisa only consults directly with health practitioners regarding lab test results for their clients.
Consultations are done through the phone and are available for practitioners in the USA only.
Lisa is not accepting clients at this time.
Please read this FAQ before scheduling a mentoring session
To be eligible to schedule a mentoring session with Lisa, you must:
Be a health practitioner (and currently in practice)
Be located in the USA (sorry, we cannot do mentoring sessions for practitioners located outside the USA at this time)
During a mentoring session, Lisa will review a lab test with you. She will explain what the different markers on the report mean and discuss what dietary, lifestyle, and/or supplements may be helpful for you to consider for your client based on these findings.
Lisa acts as a mentor, guide, and sounding board in these sessions - she will answer your questions about the report and make suggestions for how you might help your client.
Mentoring sessions are done through the phone. (Note: We do NOT allow recordings to be made of sessions).
Mentoring sessions do NOT include any of the following:
Done-for-you protocols (we offer suggestions, which may include specific products and dosing suggestions, but you need to create the final protocol for your client and check for any potential contraindications, drug-herb interactions, etc)
A written summary or protocol of what was discussed during the consult
A recording (we do NOT record sessions and we do NOT permit sessions to be recorded)
Follow-up e-mails (if you need clarification on something, like the name of a supplement we mentioned, you can send a short e-mail to our office to ask that question; otherwise, for further questions on that report, it will be necessary to schedule another consultation)
General "brain-picking" (all of our recommendations are based on the specific lab report we are reviewing - in the context of that particular individual; therefore, mentoring sessions must include a specific lab report to be discussed during the consultation)
Here are some suggestions for what length you should choose for your mentoring session:
30 minutes: This is a good option if you are somewhat familiar with the test and basic protocols. When that's the case, we can usually review 1 lab report (i.e. 1 GI-MAP report or 1 DUTCH report) within 30 minutes. This is NOT a good option if you are brand-new to the test, are not familiar with basic protocols and supplement names, have a lot of questions, or the case is very complex.
45 minutes: This is a good option if you are newer to the test, aren't as familiar with some of the supplements commonly used, have several questions, or the case is more complex.
60 minutes: This is a good option if you are brand-new to the test, are new to functional medicine as a whole, are not familiar with supplements commonly used, have a lot of questions, or the case is very complex (the patient has IBD or is extremely symptomatic and/or a lot of issues showed up on the report).
You can also choose a 60-minute session if you are somewhat familiar with the test and protocols and would like to review 2 GI-MAP reports or 2 DUTCH reports back-to-back within the same session. Or, if you are a more advanced practitioner who is pretty familiar with the GI-MAP and protocols and only have a handful of questions per report, you can choose this option to discuss up to 3 GI-MAP reports in a session.
While the purpose of these mentoring sessions is to help you with client cases, we do allow practitioners to consult with us on their own lab tests, as long as they understand that we are providing mentoring on how to interpret their lab report and not accepting them as a client.
If your case is complex, we highly recommend working with a practitioner as a client, as they can give you additional support (follow-up e-mails, troubleshooting help, etc). Mentoring sessions do not include done-for-you protocols or follow-up e-mail support.
Because Lisa also works as a clinical consultant for Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory, she has limited availability for 1-on-1 mentoring. She is often only able to set aside an hour on some days for mentoring.
If you want to do a mentoring session with Lisa but the times on her online schedule don't work for you, please contact our office to see if Lisa may be able to meet with you at a different time. Let us know what days/times work the best for you. (Note: Lisa is in CST)
Our practitioner rate is already heavily discounted from our regular client rate, so we cannot offer any further discounts beyond that.
